For the study, 3,660 people age 65 and older underwent brain scans to detect silent brain infarcts, or small lesions in the brain that can cause loss of thinking skills, stroke or dementia. Scans were performed again five years later on 2,313 of the participants.
The people involved in the study were also given questionnaires about fish in their diets. The study found that people who ate broiled or baked tuna and other fish high in omega-3 fatty acids (called DHA and EPA) three times or more per week had a nearly 26 percent lower risk of having the silent brain lesions that can cause dementia and stroke compared to people who did not eat fish regularly.
Eating just one serving of this type of fish per week led to a 13 percent lower risk. "While eating tuna and other types of fish seems to help protect against memory loss and stroke, these results were not found in people who regularly ate fried fish," said Jyrki Virtanen, PhD, RD, with the University of Kuopio in Finland. "More research is needed as to why these types of fish may have protective effects, but the omega-3 fatty acids EPA and DHA would seem to have a major role."
Types of fish that contain high levels of DHA and EPA nutrients include salmon, mackerel, herring, sardines, and anchovies.
Research shows that silent brain infarcts, which are only detected by brain scans, are found in about 20 percent of otherwise healthy elderly people.

Honey Beautifies Your Skin
We all know that honey is one of nature's most delicious treats, but did you know that there are many topical uses for honey as well? There are at least four reasons why it is so effective in beautifying your skin:
* It is a well known antibacterial and antifungal agent, and helps disinfect and speed the healing process in wounds, scrapes and burns.
* It is rich in vitamins, minerals, and amino acids, which are wonderful beauty aid that nourish the skin.
* It contains powerful antioxidants which fight free radicals and reverse ageing.
* It is rich and thick, making it an effective moisturizer. Like other humectants, honey binds moisture to the skin and helps it stay hydrated.

Obesity Takes Years Off Your Life
It's similar to smoking when it comes to effect on longevity, researchers note
Being obese can shorten your life, a new study shows.
"Moderate obesity typically shortens life span by about three years," said researcher Gary Whitlock, from the Clinical Trial Service Unit at the University of Oxford in the United Kingdom. "By moderate obesity, I mean weighing about a third more than is ideal, which for most people would mean being about 50 or 60 pounds overweight."
"By contrast, weighing twice your ideal weight -- say, an extra 150 pounds -- shortens life span by about 10 years," he added.
BMI is a calculation that expresses a relationship between height and weight (see my earlier post). People are considered underweight if their BMI is less than 18.5, normal weight when the BMI is between 18.5 and 24.9, overweight when BMI is between 25 and 29.9, and obese when BMI is 30 or more, according to the U.S. National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute.
The researchers found that men and women whose BMI was between 22.5 and 25 lived the longest For those with a BMI over 25, every 10 to 12 pound increase translated to about a 30 percent increased risk of dying. In addition, there was a 40 percent increase in the risk for heart disease, stroke and other vascular disease, a 60 percent to 120 percent increased risk of diabetes, liver disease or kidney disease, a 10 percent increased risk of cancer, and a 20 percent increased risk for lung disease, the researchers reported.
"Obesity causes kidney disease, liver disease and several types of cancer, but the most common way it kills is by causing stroke and, most importantly, heart disease. Obesity causes heart disease by pushing up blood pressure, by interfering with blood cholesterol levels, and by bringing on diabetes," Whitlock said.
People who are moderately obese with a BMI in the 30 to 35 range reduced their life span by two and four years. For those who are severely obese with BMIs between 40 and 45, their life span was reduced by eight to 10 years. That's comparable to the effects of smoking, Whitlock said.
In fact, people whose weight was below normal also died earlier, due mainly to smoking-related diseases, the researchers noted.

Proper Way of Storing Breast Milk
If you want to store breast milk for when you're not available to breast-feed, the Nemours Foundation offers these suggestions for doing it safely:
* Breast milk can be refrigerated for about two or three days, as long as the temperature is between 32 and 39 degrees Fahrenheit (0 C to 3.9 C).
* Breast milk can be frozen for three to four months in many freezers, as long as the temperature is 0 F (-18 C). But lengths may vary based on the type of freezer.
* Breast milk can be kept at room temperature for four to eight hours, as long as the room is kept at 77 F (25 C) or cooler.
* Always store breast milk in sterile bottles that have a screw cap, a sterilized nursing bag, or tightly-capped hard plastic cups. Always label the bottles with the date that the milk was pumped.
* You can let milk thaw in a refrigerator for up to 24 hours, but never refreeze milk that has been thawed.

Calcium for People with Lactose Intolerance
People with lactose intolerance should restrict their intake of dairy foods and other sources of lactose, which include foods containing whey; curds; milk by-products; dry milk solids; and nonfat dry milk powder. But then how do you get enough bone-enriching calcium?
While it's best to check with your doctor, here are some calcium-rich foods that are probably safe for the lactose-intolerant, provided by the University of Virginia Health System:
* Leafy green vegetables such as broccoli and kale.
* Fish such as salmon and sardines.
* Yogurts with active cultures, which can help make the yogurt easier to digest.
* Foods rich in vitamin D, such as eggs and liver, which help the body absorb calcium.

Too Many Cans of Cola = Bad News to Your Bones
Some women drink diet cola to help keep the weight off, but a new study suggests that drinking diet, regular and decaffeinated cola can actually lower bone density and put women at increased risk for osteoporosis.
According to the National Osteoporosis Foundation, roughly 55 percent of Americans, mostly women, are at risk of developing the brittle-bone disease, which leaves bones dry, weak, and more likely to fracture.
Cola drinks -- such as Pepsi-Cola or Coca-Cola -- seem to increase that risk, according to research published in today's American Journal of Clinical Nutrition.
The scientists compared how much cola and other sodas people drank to bone mineral density measurements taken from the spine and from three different spots on the hips.
"The more cola that women drank, the lower their bone mineral density was," said Katherine Tucker, study author and director of the Epidemiology and Dietary Assessment Program at Tufts University, in a press release.
Women who drank more cola had reduced bone mineral density at all three hip sites but not at the spine. The link between cola consumption and women's bone loss was unaffected by age, menopausal status, cigarettes, alcohol, or total calcium and vitamin D intake.
Cola consumption did not affect men in the same way. Also, other carbonated drinks were not associated with bone loss.

Chocolate's Benefit to Health
Yale University Associate Professor Dr. David Katz recently tested the blood pressure of 45 adults before and after eating dark chocolate. The results were impressive: just two hours after eating dark chocolate the subjects' blood pressure dropped and their blood flow improved. "This clearly suggests that dark chocolate isn't just good; it's good for you," Dr. Katz said of his 2005 study, one of more than the 20 conducted in the past decade on the health value of cocoa and chocolate.
While more research is needed to determine the long-term effects on people with high blood pressure, the research on cocoa and chocolate is accumulating quickly. Recent research shows that dark chocolate and cocoa may :
· Help your arteries relax and widen, lowering blood pressure, promoting good blood flow and reducing the strain on the heart.
· Help prevent the build-up of plaque that can block arteries
· Have mild anti-blood clotting effects.
The results, published in 2006, were also stunning. The researchers divided a group of 470 elderly men according to how much cocoa-containing food they consumed and tracked them over 15 years. The men who consumed the most cocoa-containing products, the researchers discovered, were half as likely to die from cardiovascular disease as those who consumed the least. In addition, they were half as likely to die from any cause as those who ate the least cocoa-or chocolate-containing foods.

Avoid Giving Your Baby Water to Drink
Babies younger than six months old should never be given water to drink, physicians at Johns Hopkins Children's Center in
"Even when they're very tiny, they have an intact thirst reflex or a drive to drink," Dr. Jennifer Anders, a pediatric emergency physician at the center, told Reuters Health. "When they have that thirst and they want to drink, the fluid they need to drink more of is their breast milk or formula."
Because babies' kidneys aren't yet mature, giving them too much water causes their bodies to release sodium along with excess water, Anders said. Losing sodium can affect brain activity, so early symptoms of water intoxication can include irritability, drowsiness and other mental changes. Other symptoms include low body temperature (generally 97 degrees or less), puffiness or swelling in the face, and seizures.
Water as a beverage should be completely off limits to babies six months old and younger, Anders and her colleagues say. Parents should also avoid using over-diluted formula, or pediatric drinks containing electrolytes.

High Cholesterol May Cause Sexual Disfunction
The key to a good sex life may, indeed, lie in the heart — or at least the blood vessels it supplies. For most healthy people, the signs of sexual arousal — penile erections or vaginal lubrication — happen automatically.
But both of these responses require a rich blood flow to the genitals. Cholesterol can build up in these blood vessels, as well as others in the body, preventing these arteries from opening appropriately to increase blood flow and causing sexual dysfunction.
In men, that constricted blood flow may result in an inability to develop erections. In fact, studies are finding that erectile dysfunction is often a marker of high cholesterol and arterial hardening, which is usually a “silent” condition. A recent British study found that 18 of 20 men who had erectile dysfunction but no symptoms of heart problems actually had high levels of LDL.
In women, the high cholesterol/sexual dysfunction link is less clear, but experts say that both men and women should discuss problems of sexual functioning with their physicians and be sure that cholesterol screening is included in physical examinations.

Overweight Threats Fertility
Men's as well as women's body size matters when it comes to fertility.
New research suggests that obesity can reduce the quality of men's sperm as well as lower a woman's chances of successfully conceiving a child using in vitro fertilization.
Danish researchers found men who are overweight or obese have significantly lower sperm counts than men of normal weight. In addition, men who were underweight also had lower sperm counts compared with normal-weight men.
The study showed that overweight men who had a body mass index (BMI, a measure of weight in relation to height used to measure obesity) over 25 had a nearly 22% lower sperm concentration and 24% lower total sperm count compared with healthy weight men.
A BMI over 25 is considered overweight and a BMI over 30 is considered obese.
Underweight men who had a BMI under 20 also suffered from similar reductions in sperm counts.
"Body mass within the ideal "normal" range was associated with higher sperm concentration, higher total sperm count, and a lower percentage of abnormal sperm," write researcher Tina Kold Jensen, MD, PhD, of the

Porn Can Cause Brain Damage ?
Addiction to pornography among children can cause brain damage leading to depression and behavioral problems that can be just as serious as those caused by illegal drugs.
Donald Hilton Jr., a neurosurgeon from the Methodist Specialty and
Hilton said such changes would cause the brain to focus too much on pleasure receptors, thus failing to control behavior.
“Just like other addictions, pornography addiction will interrupt dopamine, which functions as a neurotransmitter, and it will cause a part of the brain to shrink,” Hilton said. The shrinkage occurs in the Ventral Tegmental Area, or VTA, at the front of the brain.
Hilton said children were susceptible because the part of the brain that controls memory is not yet fully developed.
He said with time the porn-damaged brain can heal itself but will never return completely to normal.
‘I’ve found
that porn addiction is
the hardest
to escape’

Fish for a Smarter Baby
A recent study reported by American Epidemiology Journal found that there is a positive correlation between frequency of eating fish during pregnancy and intelligence level of the child when the child reached 3 years old.
Why? Because fish contains omega-3 that is one of the most important component in brain development.
Many critical stages of brain development occurs before the baby is born. Almost all of a baby’s neuron develop during certain period of pregnancy.
The study mentioned that a mother who regularly consumes fish during her pregnancy was proven to have a more intelligent child with better motoric development compared to child from a mother who is rarely eat fish in her pregnancy.

Recognize TIA, The Warning Sign of Stroke
TIAs are important in predicting if a stroke will occur rather than when one will happen. They can occur days, weeks or even months before a major stroke. In about half the cases, the stroke occurs within one year of the TIA.
TIAs occur when a blood clot temporarily clogs an artery, and part of the brain doesn't get the blood it needs. The symptoms occur rapidly and last a relatively short time. Most TIAs last less than five minutes. The average is about a minute. Unlike stroke, when a TIA is over, there's no injury to the brain.
It's very important to recognize the warning signs of a TIA or stroke. The usual TIA symptoms are the same as those of stroke, only temporary:
- Sudden numbness or weakness of the face, arm or leg, especially on one side of the body
- Sudden confusion, trouble speaking or understanding
- Sudden trouble seeing in one or both eyes
- Sudden trouble walking, dizziness, loss of balance or coordination
- Sudden, severe headache with no known cause
The short duration of these symptoms and lack of permanent brain injury is the main difference between TIA and stroke.

Some News About Some Warm-Weather Staples
Some news about some warm-weather staples
Lemonade It may prevent kidney stones. In a long-term study, Duke University doctors found that people who drank a daily mix of lemon juice and water had increased levels of urinary citrate (low levels are linked to stones). Avoid sugary, calorie-laden mixes and stick to ’ades made with real lemon juice.
Air conditioning It may make us fat. Before AC, we had to expend energy (and burn calories) to regulate body temperature; now it’s done for us. So turn off the air once in a while, open the windows and let your body do its job.
Watermelon Don’t store uncut melon in the fridge: It may be healthier at room temperature. Why? Cancer-fighting carotenoids still develop after a melon is picked, but cold temps seem to slow the process.

Sugar Weakens Body Immunity
It is nothing new to us that sugar can deteriorate dental health and in excessive amount may also cause diabetes. One other deteriorating effect that sugar may give is weakening the body's immunity. How could that happen ? Lets learn a bit about phagocyte.
Phagocytes are the white blood cells that protect the body by ingesting (phagocytosing) harmful foreign particles, bacteria and dead or dying cells. They are essential for fighting infections and subsequent immunity.
Scientists found that body's capability to fight diseases and infection will be reduced parallel with the amount of sugar that enters the body. It is reported that sugar has significant role in weakening the phagocytes. 6 teaspoons of sugar is enough to reduce 25% of phagocytes capability to fight diseases. Imagine if you eat a Banana Split which contains approximately 24 teaspoons of sugar, that means 92% reduction in phagocytes' power.
Phagocytes will only recover its normal condition 5 hours after the sugar brought effect.

Osteoporosis and Meat Consumption
Osteoporosis is a disease of bone that leads to an increased risk of fracture. Calcium sufficiency plays a very important role in preventing this disease. Here lets see how protein and calcium closely correlate each other.
Check out below calculation example..
If a middle aged man has 47 g of protein intake per day, he will also require 500 mg of calcium.
But, If he adds his protein intake to 95 g, he will require 800 mg of calcium a day.
Again, If he adds his protein intake to 142g a day, 1400mg of calcium would be necessary.
Consuming too much meat means much protein intake. Protein has the effect of reducing blood PH which means more calcium will be disposed through urine. How could that happen ? Because bones react to acidic environment by releasing its alkaline salt. Losing 2mg of calcium a day in 10 years can result in the lost in 15% of bone's inorganic substance.
Now you know why vegetarians are less likely to suffer from osteoporosis.

More Reason to Start Your Regular Exercise
Here are some more reason for us to start doing regular exercise..
1. It boosts the immune system
Our ability to fight infections tends to decline as we get older, but studies show that older people who get six hours of moderate exercise a week have an immune response similar to that of someone in their 20s.
2. It guards against Parkinson's
A Harvard University analysis of 48,000 men found that the most active were 50 per cent less likely to develop Parkinson's disease than the least active. Those who'd been vigorously active as young men cut the risk by 60 per cent.
3. It could slow prostate cancer
A 14-year Harvard study found that men over 65 doing at least three hours of running, cycling, swimming, etc, a week had a 70 per cent lower risk of being diagnosed with advanced or fatal prostate cancer.
4. It might fight Alzheimer's
An experiment at the University of California, using mice bred to develop Alzheimer's disease, found those given access to running wheels were better at puzzle solving and had 50 per cent lower levels of a protein in their bodies associated with the disease. A study in Honolulu found men who walked less than 400 metres a day had almost twice the risk of dementia in later life.
5. It may have more effect on heart health than obesity
A US study of 936 women with chest pain and/or suspected narrowing of the arteries found those who were over-weight didn't actually have a greater likelihood of being diagnosed with heart disease, but those with low levels of physical activity did.

Excessive Protein is Potentially Harmful
Do you know which organs suffer the most when we have too much meat in our diet? they are liver and kidney. Why ? Because the body of every living creature including human continuously produce unwanted substances that has to be get rid of. This unwanted substances lie inside the meat extract that gives us distinct taste of the meat.
Whenever we eat the meat, our body systems have to work to digest the meat and dispose those unwanted substances that come along with them so that it will not harm our body. Our kidney is the main 'organ in charge' for this job.
Kidney malfunction also associated with excessive protein intake which is again related to consumption of meat. Too much protein is harmful because the body does not have any place to keep the excessive protein. At this stage liver and kidney will work extra to shorten the processing time of the protein in order to push it out of the body through urination.

Bra and Breast Cancer
A study by Singer and Grismaijer in 1995 found that the odds of getting breast cancer dramatically increased with bra-wearing over 12 hours per day.
1. Women who wore their bras 24 hours per day had a 3 out of 4 chance of developing breast cancer (in their study, n=2056 for the cancer group and n=2674 for the standard group).
2. Women who wore bras more than 12 hour per day but not to bed had a 1 out of 7 risk.
3. Women who wore their bras less than 12 hours per day had a 1 out of 152 risk.
4. Women who wore bras rarely or never had a 1 out of 168 chance of getting breast cancer. The overall difference between 24 hour wearing and not at all was a 125-fold difference.
That is a huge difference, and the implication is clear. Your first line of defense in preventing breast cancer is to severely limit how many hours a day you wear a bra.
Bras do NOT cause the cancer initially but they restrict the flow of lymph within breast tissue, thereby hindering the normal cleansing process of the breast tissue. Many environmental toxins and pesticides that cause and promote cancer are "fat-loving" and so tend to reside in the breast tissue. Lymph fluid carries away waste products, dead cells, and toxins.

Risk of Cesarean Section
Take cesarean section only if it is really necessary. Find out here why..
1. Cesarean section poses three times mortality risk compared to normal delivery
2. Mortality rate (mother) in cesarean section is 5.8 per 100,000 deliveries
3. Other threat to a mother in every cesarean section compared to normal delivery is 27.3% to 9%. They are :
- Heart stoppage (5 times more)
- Porturation infection (3 times more)
- Having to take womb/uterus removal (3 times more)
- Blood vessel clog (2.2 times more)
- Bleeding (2.1 times more)
- Anesthetic complication (2.3 times more)
- Having to stay longer in hospital (1.5 times more)

Cigar vs Cigarette
Cigar smoke, like pipe smoke, is not traditionally inhaled: does this make it less harmful?
Cigars actually produce more tar and carbon monoxide than cigarettes, and cigar tar is more carcinogenic. The smoke dissolves more easily in saliva, delivering a nicotine dose without inhalation. The mouth and tongue are just as exposed as with cigarettes. On the other hand, cigar smokers tend to smoke less. A 2003 UK study concluded pipe and cigar smokers had a risk of heart disease, stroke and death halfway between non-smokers and light cigarette smokers and the same lung cancer risk as light cigarette smokers.

Aloe Vera Cures
You can grow your own aloe vera in a pot indoors: the plants are readily available from nurseries. Place it near a window and water when the soil is dry also do not overwater. If you snip off a small length of leaf and squeeze out the gel inside, this can be applied directly to the problem area. Be sure to check first that it is colourless: the bitter yellowish juice is a laxative.

Watch Your Belly
Take a look at your belly. How big is it? Is it round or flat? Hard or soft? The answers to these questions can provide clues about the likelihood of you developing certain conditions such as out-of-whack cholesterol, diabetes or heart disease.
The more fat in the abdominal area, the bigger your waist size tends to be. And a larger waistline is an independent predictor of health risks.
Research has determined that the cut-off point where health risks significantly increase for certain diseases is at 40 inches (102 cm) for men and 35 inches (88 cm) for women. Whether you are classified as “overweight” or “obese” according to your Body Mass Index (BMI)*—or even if you’re in the “normal” range—a waist size at or above these points is associated with a higher risk for type 2 diabetes, abnormal cholesterol levels, high blood pressure and cardiovascular disease.
The bigger your belly is, the more at risk you are of developing these conditions, and the risk increases as your BMI increases. In other words, the more overweight you are, the more problematic it is to have a bigger waistline.

Horizontal Exercise
Is that exercise bike in your bedroom gathering dust? You can still turn the room into a fitness haven – but forget the bike and head straight to bed: Having vigorous sex can burn off about 130 calories per half hour. You can burn off two kilograms a year with 135 lovemaking sessions – that works out to 2.6 times a week.
And there are other health benefits to habitual sex: British researchers who examined 914 middle-age men over 20 years found that frequent sex might help the heart. Moreover, results from a study in the Journal of the American Medical Association suggest that frequent ejaculation may be related to a lower risk of prostate cancer.
So for the sake of your waist and heart – not to mention a few other body parts – consider the horizontal workout. After all, it’s a lot more fun than heading to the gym.As written by : Stuart Foxman

Moving Water Detoxifies
Imagine the sound of wave in the beach or the sound a waterfalls are making. Every movement or waves of water causes release of particles and ions.
Water wave is capable of releasing negative ions that is beneficial to support health and healing. Negative ions can pull toxin out from our body. The sound of moving water is natural, it has totally different element from those we hear from machines or other things in busy environment around us. It can become a source of tranquility for our senses.
Try to bring some moving water in your home or workplace. Put aquarium which create sound of rippling water in your living room, or work it out in your garden pond.

Your Skin Hates Coffee
Women who drink more tea, coffee, chocolate, or soda are more likely to suffer from skin impurities and fatigue. Those kind of drink contains caffeine inside which makes it harder for our body to absorb vitamin and mineral from the food we consume everyday. So you'd better limit your consumption of those beverages, instead replace it with plain water. Drinking water helps preventing dehydration that can make our skin looks tired. Pure spring water is the best ingredient for beautiful skin.

Don’t dip tea bags in your teapot for too long
Tea is recognized for having beneficial to health. Tea has also been commonly consumed by many peoples for many generations. Nowadays we see many kinds of tea products that offer practicality to serve, one of them is in form of tea bags. Just few seconds dip of the tea bag into your teapot or cup filled with warm water, and there goes your tea.
Very practical, however be sure that you don’t keep it in your teapot longer than 3-5 minutes.
You must wonder why ? It is because the tea bag material that contains chlorine as disinfectant, preventing bacteria from coming and decompose the tea. Tea bag paper with chlorine looks much cleaner, but in large amount, disinfectant agent is no different than insecticide. Therefore, avoid dipping the tea bag too long or the chlorine will dissolve along in your tea.

Do you know which food has negative calorie?
How is that possible ?
Negative calorie here means that these type of food costs the body more calorie in its digestion process rather than what it is getting from the food itself. Interesting isn’t it.
For example : a portion of fresh fruit gives you 200g calories, but 100g of it are burnt during the process to digest it, leaving 100g of calorie left. But a portion of broccoli only gives you 60g of calorie while it takes the body to burn 100g of calorie to digest it. So the broccoli is actually a negative calorie food. Many vegetables, fruits, and beans, are foods with negative calorie. Onion, cabbage, lettuce, tomato, apple, orange, pineapple, cranberry, gooseberry, etc.
Eating foods with negative calorie is believed to reduce weight faster than taking regular diet. This statement is hard to prove but at least the concept of negative calorie is completely make sense to me.
If you wish to reduce your weight aside from those negative calorie foods, to help the body metabolism, oxygen consumption must also be increased by doing exercise, aerobics, jogging, or any other physical sports.

Green beans help reducing blood glucose
Research shows that green beans contain 2 substances called cytosterol and stigmasterol. Both of those can boost the amount of insulin in our body. Insulin is a hormone produced naturally by our body by an organ named pancreas. Insulin works to reduce glucose level in blood. Mellitus diabetes is a condition whereby one’s pancreas does not produce enough insulin or incapable to produce insulin at all.
Green beans are widely available and not expensive to buy. To serve this insulin boosting purpose it must be eaten with limited processing like simply boiling it or putting it in soup. Any form of processing with oil is not recommended as it causes cholesterol to interfere.

Rule of thumb : Don’t take more than 3 tablespoons of sugar a day if you don’t regularly do tiring physical activity or exercise
If you often experience :
- Excessive thirst
- Frequent drowsiness and weak feeling
- Getting tired very quickly
- Slow healing wound
- Sight issue
then you need to find out how is your blood glucose level, because those all are symptoms of diabetes.

Are you really that sick ?
If you feel dizzy, start coughing, sneezing or got a little bit of fever, don’t immediately take medication.
In many cases this kind of symptom will vanish by itself within 2-3 days. Taking medication too early is not good for your body. Our body has its self healing capability.
Just take enough rest, the symptoms will disappear by its own. Dizziness can even sometimes healed by just breathing fresh air in the park.
Don’t ever think taking medication is not a big deal, the habit of taking medication too early may give unwanted side impact to our body in the long run.

Drinking Water - an Inexpensive Investment for Your Health

Get More energy and Fight Tension with Qigong breathing
“ Qigong (or ch'i kung) refers to a wide variety of traditional cultivation practices that involve methods of accumulating, circulating, and working with qi or energy within the body.
You can easily practice Qigong breathing by breathing in air into the stomach (abdomen) through the nose until it expands out like a balloon. Then hold the breath in for a moment, and then breathe out the air slowly through the nose and not through the mouth. Repeat this breathing exercise for 10 times or practice it for about 5 minutes. Relax your face and mind, concentrate on your breathing. This way it helps to increase your energy and reduce tension.

Breathing Therapy for Headache and Exhaustion
Our noses have left and right nostrils. Are these nostrils having the same function for inhaling (breathe in) and exhaling (breathe out)? Actually it's not the same, according to an ancient Chinese belief, the right side represents the sun and the left side represents the moon.
When having headache, try to close your right nostril and use your left nostril to do breathing for about 5 min. The headache will go.
